Position Opening: Research Associate
RK&A, Inc., a consulting firm that provides evaluation, research and planning services for museums and other informal learning organizations, is seeking a junior-level Research Associate in its Alexandria, VA office. Under the management of a mentor/supervisor, the Research Associate will be responsible for implementing diverse evaluation projects; hiring and managing contractor data collection teams; collecting, preparing, and analyzing qualitative and quantitative data; preparing reports and presentations; and assisting with in-house tasks, such as website or social media updates.
The ideal candidate will have 1-2 years’ experience conducting evaluation and a strong a desire to join a work environment that is client-centered. A master’s degree in applied anthropology, evaluation, educational psychology, sociology, educational measurement, museum education, museum studies, or a related field is required though relevant experience will be considered. Qualified candidates will be familiar with current evaluation methods and practices. Qualitative and/or quantitative data analysis experience is required. The qualified candidate must have excellent written and oral communication skills, be able to juggle multiple projects, and work both independently and as part of project teams. Applicants must have a strong interest in museums and informal learning. Some travel is required (the amount varies, with an average being once or twice a month).
